Principal's Corner

Welcome to Empire Elementary School in the Empire Union School District.   Our school was first established in 1904 and has a long legacy of effectively serving students in the relatively small, rural community of Empire.

It is an honor to serve the students and families of Empire.     Our school’s vision is to create a school that knows no limits to the academic success of each student.    The motto and mindset we promote is Imagine, Believe, and Achieve.   We believe in our students and their potential to achieve their goals and achieve success.   We are committed to providing a school environment that is conducive to the needs of our students; that is the mission of the staff of Empire Elementary School.  In doing so, we promote a school that values civility.    We are keenly aware that the safety and well-being of our students is paramount to a well-functioning learning environment.    Among other activities to promote a positive school culture, this year we have instituted Anti-Bullying Week, as well as year-long activities from the Bully Project.    I am committed to exemplifying the Bully Project’s Principal’s Pledge.

The Principal’s Pledge…

As your principal, I am dedicated to ensuring that every child in my school receives a quality education, and I will work daily to model and nurture the behaviors that form the basis for a safe and supportive educational experience, including mutual respect, friendship, compassion, honesty, and self-esteem.

I am aware that the impact bullying can have is profoundly negative on a student’s development.   It can destroy positive school community and culture.

As principal of this school, I pledge to foster a school climate based on mutual respect and tolerance for every individual in every school, to hold everyone in the school community accountable for preventing bullying, and to intervene in bullying incidents whenever they occur.   And, I pledge to do all I can to give all educators and staff the knowledge and skills they need to create a school culture that supports every child’s well-being, safety, and self-confidence.

My door will always be open to help students, staff and parents.

Common Core

There is a new set of standards being written for the state of California to which our schools will be held accountable - they are called Common Core Standards. Attached you will find the California State Common Core Standards in English Language arts and Mathematics. Below is a link to the site that has the Spanish translations for the common core standards as well.
